Jazmine Sullivan tour rehearsal

It was a real pleasure hosting Jazmine Sullivan and her band for 5 days of intensive rehearsal before their tour. The band came in to refine material and get everything ready for their live show. We were able to provide them with full back line equipment, in-ear monitor mixing, and multi-track recording of each rehearsal. We were really firing on all cylinders!

Jazmine and the band are touring to support her latest release, “Reality Show.”

We are pleased to announce that our next in-studio concert on Saturday, February 21st features Philadelphia bassist, cellist, composer, and bandleader Dylan Taylor. Dylan recorded and mixed his debut solo album, Sweeter for the Struggle, at Forge Recording in 2013. The album features notable talent in the area, such as Tom Lawton, Craig McIver, Bobby Zankel, Bob Meashey, and Steve Tirpak. Also, jazz fusion pioneer Larry Coryell joins Dylan on two tunes.

For the concert, Dylan will once again be joined by Larry Coryell on guitar, and the trio will be rounded out by Mike Clark, who is perhaps known best for his work with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters. Tickets for this show will be very limited, and can be purchased by clicking here or calling the studio at 215-885-7000.

There will be two seatings, both an 8pm and a 10pm. Once again, audience members will have the option to sit either in the live room with the musicians, or in the control room with the recording engineers. You can buy tickets for here for 8pm show, and here for the 10pm show.
For those out of the area, both concerts will be available for live streaming from anywhere in the world. You can buy a ticket to stream the show by clicking here.

Here’s a video from Dylan’s CD release show at the Painted Bride Arts Center in Philadelphia.

First ever in-studio concert experience

Forge Recording opens its doors for a new kind of concert

A new kind of concert.

For the first time, Forge Recording will be hosting a live in-studio concert experience. On Friday, September 26th, attendees will sit-in on a real session. Not only that, but audience members seated in the studio (all wearing headphones) can interactively mix their own version of the show. Crank up the guitar, lighten the drums, or revel in the organ at will.

The concert features Steve Giordano’s Organic Trio with Dave Posmontier playing our Hammond Organ and Dan Monaghan on drums. They’ll be building on the Philadelphia jazz tradition of guitar and organ, playing swinging standards and originals.

Everyone in attendance will also receive a digital download of the show.

What: Steve Giordano’s Organic Trio performs for a small, intimate studio audience

When: Friday, September 26th at 7:30pm

Where: Forge Recording, 100 Mill Road, Oreland, PA 19075

Or call us at 215.885.7000 to purchase tickets over the phone.
